Kerrville. Start with the Museum of Western Art and leave time for a meal. Check city notices before adding a river stop.
Fredericksburg. Choose a manageable stretch of Main Street for shops, galleries and lunch. Add Pioneer Museum if it is open, or follow the published historic walking route from public sidewalks.
Boerne. Finish with the Cibolo Nature Center. Prairie, woodland, marsh and creek environments offer different ways to slow down; ask about current trail conditions before setting out.
