The last three months of the year ask a pleasant question: where shall we meet? Around a kitchen table, perhaps. On a town square before the evening lights come on. In a gallery where one painting gives everyone a different reason to stop.
October through December need not become a race from one attraction to the next. Pick one thing you want to see, leave time for lunch, and allow room for an unplanned conversation. The point of a getaway is to return with a memory, not a completed checklist.
This issue follows that idea from Enchanted Rock to Fredericksburg’s Sunday houses. There are new tables to try, museum highlights, a fall garden to enjoy and seasonal outings to put on the calendar.
As Thanksgiving gives way to Advent and Christmas, leave a little time unassigned. Invite someone along. Let a small outing become a good memory.
