Online Shopping Is Hurting Our Local Businesses

Our neighbors spend money shopping online—a trend that should ring alarm bells in city halls across the country. That’s money flowing out of our towns, bypassing the local businesses that create jobs, sponsor Little League teams, and keep our communities vibrant. But instead of action, we get silence. Our local leadership and politicians continue to ignore this exodus of dollars, while our downtowns grow quiet and our storefronts shutter.

This isn’t just about economics. It’s about community. When we choose online over local, we’re weakening the very fabric of the places we live. Small businesses aren’t just quaint holdovers—they are our friends, our family, our legacy. And they need more than lip service; they need support, partnerships, and policy. That’s where the Shop Local First Loyalty Card Program steps in. We’re not waiting for permission or applause— we're taking action.

Our initiative is designed to reward those who spend locally while giving small business owners and their employees real, tangible benefits. We’re building a cycle of support that lifts everyone up—from the cashiers at the counter to the families they go home to. If you're a business owner who believes in this mission, we want you with us. Help us remind our leaders what a thriving community really looks like.

Join the movement at: hcvpublisher@gmail.com Together, we can turn the tide. Let’s shop local—first, and always.
